Anteis has developed four totally complementary product ranges that permit practitioners to smooth, fill, model and rehydrate the dermis to perfection.

In 2007, the Anteis group created its Ophthalmology department, focusing on applications and devices designed to meet the requirements of this medical-surgical speciality. The Anteis policy is twofold: (i) developing viscoelastic products (OVD) adapted to different eye surgery programs and (ii) designing devices capable of treating major pathologies of the eye’s anterior segment. In the beginning of next year, Anteis will launch a drainage viscoelsatic injectable implant, presented in a glass syringe, indicated as an adjuvant during perforating and non-perforating glaucoma surgery.

It new flag product, Synolis V-A, is an innovative, new-generation treatment for osteoarthritis that provides rapid pain relief. The treatment consists of 3 injections administered over 3 weeks. It shows excellent safety and tolerability. Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative arthritis, is a painful and potentially immobilizing condition caused by the degeneration and loss of cartilage in one or more joints.

The NCCR MaNEP – Materials with Novel Electronic Properties – is at the forefront of research concerning new magnetic materials, ferroelectrics and superconductors displaying new electronic properties. All these materials have an important potential for applications in a wide range of domains including power systems, information technology, production systems, sensors, actuators and nanotechnology in general. The scientists and engineers form the NCCR MaNEP are active in fundamental research to gather a better understanding of these new materials. At the same time, applied research is performed to prepare the way towards applications. A network of academic and industrial partners is involved in this task.

Technology and knowledge transfer are important goals of the NCCR MaNEP. Therefore, the MaNEP Development Lab hosted at the FONGIT focuses its research activities on projects with a high application potential. Working as a link between academic research and industry, the MaNEP Development Lab builds prototypes to foster synergy with industry. MaNEP is thus able to offer technical and scientific solutions to industrial challenges. Several joint projects with industry are currently active, and MaNEP is constantly looking for new partnerships. Basically, the expertise of MaNEP covers essentially the synthesis and characterization of new materials, and state-of-the-art experimental techniques related to nanotechnology in general. The synthesis of new materials covers both thin film and crystal growth, and metallurgy in general. Among the techniques available to characterize the electronic properties (superconducting, magnetic, ferroelectric) and the structure of new materials we can mention: scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical spectroscopy, electron spin resonance (ESR), neutron diffusion spectroscopy and specific heat measurements at the nanoscale. The main focus of research is on insulating materials, piezoelectrics and ferroelectrics, as well as new magnetic and superconducting materials.

H3oC provides strategic, operational and organizational consultancy services for SME’s, private, public and governmental agencies. Its forte is the orchestration and management of multi-stakeholder, and multidisciplinary management of complex high-tech projects. H3oC is employs innovative design methodology (CK) to fully exploit and optimize its clients’ innovation cycles, technologies and products, from operational, strategic and business perspectives. To complement this service, H3oC assists its customers to remodel its workforce to better address new business challenges, by assessing corporate training needs and building on group dynamics and organizational behaviors. H3oC is mainly involved in the Cleantech Industry, sustainable development and Innovation, at large. Public, private and supranational organizations compose its customer base.

Strategic consulting for small or large structures covers: business model validation, positioning in the global value chain, value proposition definition and assessment, establishment of strategic and operational processes, and value network analysis and monitoring. H3oC better outlines its core competencies in some of the projects it has delivered over the last few years. These though do not represent an exhaustive list of activities.

H3oC was instrumental in designing and managing transnational frameworks and projects, for instance, in:

Microtechnology and electronics (mind-microtech);

Defining housing and neighbourhoods that will have sufficient, high quality, sustainable homes within an economically prosperous, green, supportive and cohesive borough (eco-obs).

FONGIT also elected H3oC to:

Tutor an engineering company to optimize its operations, processes, and market strategy, and value its core technology accordingly;

Assist the incubator in refining its strategy in green technologies.

H3oC was also mandated by Swiss, French speaking cantons to determine the viability of a Cleantech cluster in Western Switzerland. Its report facilitated this network to become the gateway to Cleantech in western Switzerland, as it supports the development of its companies and research organizations, and promotes the region as a European center of excellence for clean technologies (cleantech-alps).

Venture kick is a great opportunity to raise the seed money necessary to turn an idea into a company. We kick start-up by providing seed capital to innovative entrepreneurs from universities and universities of applied sciences. The program is open to individuals with a business idea who are currently enrolled in a Swiss academic institution – students, PhD students, post-doc, senior scientists, professor, and so forth – in any scientific field, and who wish to start their company in Switzerland. Applicants must not have already received any venture capital. Projects are evaluated by a panel of experts and investors based on the business potential demonstrated and the achievements made in business development. With more than CHF 7.5 million in start capital, over 200 start-up projects financed, over CHF 200 million in financing volumes and more than 1700 jobs created since fall 2007, this program supported by private foundations has a convincing track-record.

The venture kick initiative closes a gap in the innovation chain. Many research projects pursued at Swiss universities could and should be turned into promising businesses. Unfortunately, the step from academia to the market often fails due to a lack of business interest or know-how from the potential entrepreneurs, as well as due to insufficient pre-seed capital, which is required for exploring market potential and structuring a strong business case in order to attract investors.

venture kick aims at early identification, structuring and promotion of promising business ideas with a clear vision: to double the number of spin-offs at Swiss universities, to accelerate the founding process and raise the attractiveness of these young companies for professional investors.

GET CHF 130‘000 FOR YOUR START-UP
In order to receive the entire start capital of CHF 130’000, you must prove the potential of your business idea in three phases. Each phase ends with a presentation in front of a highly-qualified panel of investors, entrepreneurs and technology experts. If you are successful in convincing the jury with your pitch, you will receive a grant to help you further develop your business idea and you will benefit from professional guidance.

CHF 10‘000 FOR A BRILLIANT BUSINESS IDEA
Stage 1: You apply with a vision and a clear idea of how you intend to turn your research project into a sustainable business. Applicants with the most exciting business ideas are invited for an interview. Eight projects are selected to present their business ideas – four of the most promising projects enter the support process.

CHF 20‘000 FOR A SOLID BUSINESS CASE
Stage 2: During three months, you will have the time to structure your business idea, target initial customers and strategic partners, collect feedback and work out a convincing investor presentation. You will then present your project again to a panel of experts. Only two projects out of the four pass on to the next phase.

CHF 100‘000 FOR YOUR SUCCESSFUL START-UP
Stage 3: Six months later you are ready for the market. You have written a convincing business plan, formed a team and secured your intellectual property. Now all that remains to be done is to convince a panel of experts and investors. If you are successful, you will win CHF 100’000 for your company.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The program is open to individuals having a business idea and currently enrolled in a Swiss academic institution (student, PhD student, post-doc, assistant or professors etc.), in any scientific field, and who wish to start their company in Switzerland. Also, applicants must not have already received any venture capital.
